Born in a tiny village in Ireland, Andrea showed a passion for football/soccer and a talent that developed after. Her interest in sport led to her joining an amateur team from a bigger city. A natural introvert, partially due to her growing up in such a rural locale. But over time as she came into herself she remained shy and even a little bashful. New people particularly take some adjustment for her to warm up to. Despite her social unease, she has a big heart and seeks to show her friends how much she values them.
Long Version
Born in the village of Quin in Co. Clare. Andrea's mother experienced severe postpartum depression and despite her best efforts found herself unable to function and take care of her baby daughter. She made the difficult decision to first step away for some time but then as the duration extended found that she couldn't bring herself to return, to be around Andrea.
Parenting then fell to her father. A task that he willingly took on, though at times a bit possessive over Andrea. Resisting anyone else's efforts or offers to assist with her care. He relented as she came closer to school age, not wanting to impair her social development.
As a child she was fondly liked by teachers due to her being quiet and well behaved but also mostly popular with the other children as she was willing to join in on anything. A small group of close friends including Andrea formed and were exceptionally close as they grew up together. The circle gradually expanded as they then transitioned to secondary school. The group came together around a shared love of football/soccer. Forming their own amateur team and dedicating themselves to extensive practice sessions.
The girls' team gained local attention and later word spread as they handled their own arrangements, setting up matches against established teams. By the time the girls had graduated and were considering where to next, they had attained national fame. A subject of interest, curiosity and even inspiration. As offers of sponsorships began to trickle in, they settled on their career choice.
The team's amateur status did prevent them from joining any professional leagues or tournaments but they had the freedom to travel across the world to play anyone who would invite them. Continuing to win even greater numbers of new fans from each appearance.
Andrea's sexuality (lesbian) had always been known and accepted among her friends, though none of her teammates shared her identity, their closeness made the difference a very minor one. They assured her that whenever she found a girlfriend or eventual wife, the other girl would be as much a part of their circle as Andrea herself was.
