Hutt Clan Basic History and Information
The Hutt Clan, also known as the Hutt Families, and the Hutt Cartel or just the Hutt clans is aw collective crime syndicate with significant power in the Outer Rim. It is governed by the Grand Hutt Council, a council of elder Hutts located on Nal Hutta. The Hutt Clan made it riches through smuggling and myriad illegal businesses across worlds.
The Hutt Cartel is lead by the Grand Hutt Council. The Council is made up of the heads of the individual hutt crime families that are known as kadijics. Each kadijic has their own territories, specialties, and organization hierarchy.
The Hutt Cartel has been around for almost all of known history. Their criminal enterprise has withstood the test of time, with references of current families dating back to the Old Republic. Zelji Colbaa is a leader of the Desilijic clan who has formed his own organization. A cousin to the mighty Jabba Desilijic, Zelji came into power following the death of his cousin on Tatooine by overtaking his operations on Nar Shadaa. The Colbaa Kadijic has territory on Nal Hutta, Nar Shadaa and Tatooine where he oversees operations of drugs, gangs, contract killings, extortion and gambling operations.
The Hutts are ruthless. Their money is their power, and they hire the strongest and most ruthless of killers to enforce their rule within their organizations.
To keep the Outer Rim free of law enforcement so that they can continue to operate without any hindrance. Their operations stretch into the core worlds, with the cartel having their fingers in almost every aspect of illegal drug trade and gambling within the galaxy. Political corruption happens on every level with singular planet systems.
The Hutts have a massive amount of money, and with that comes influence, power, and the most ruthless mercenaries that they can hire.
While the Hutt Cartel is led by Hutts, the races vary under the leadership. Much like the rest of the galaxy, humans make up a large portion of the cartel's population, but you will find many other outer rim species populating their ranks. The Hutts have kept inter-galactic slavery in operation for many centuries. While they do not enslave entire racies, many of the cartel's lower ranks are not generally there by choice, especially the spice miners.
Slavery is an operation that comes in many variations within the Hutt Kajidics. The trade can be for entertainment purposes consisting of slave girls as well as indentured servitude. The latter form of slavery comes from owing debts while the slave girls can be brought in from various ways, often enslaved for the sole entertainment of a Hutt leader himself.
The Hutt Cartel does not have a specific military. The heads of Kajidics have small armies of mercenaries hired to protect them. At the street level, they have roves of gangsters that operate extremely loosely. It's because of this structure that makes them so hard to route out - they have no central army or foot soldiers, just crime families that have varying levels of operational professionalism. Space lanes are protected by hired pirates. These pirates use dirty hit and run tactics to harass any vessels that travel certain routes, making it extremely hard for anyone traveling by themselves in the outer rim.
The Hutt Cartel runs and operates all of the illegal spice mines in the Outer Rim. Spice is also traded across the galaxy by various organizations. Each Kajidic has their own territory and is responsible for moving and distributing the drugs within those territories. Lower level Hutt factions operate in the outer rim, which is the easiest and safest territory to run illegal activities in. Large families work to smuggle their spice into the inner rims and core worlds. There is the most money to be made, yet the risk is much higher due to operating in New Republic territory. The deeper into the core the spice needs to go and be distributed, the higher level of investment that needs to be made into smugglers, street gangs, and dealers. Spice is the main trade.
Outside of owning everything on Nal Hutta and Nar Shadaa, the Hutts own hundreds of ships, weapons and safehouses throughout the known galaxy.
